With Deepest Sympathy

This card was created using the color scheme  black, grey, white and silver.
I used a Penny Black stamped for the background which was embossed with silver. The black banner sentiment was embossed and embellished with silver twine. I used the same silver twine on the center of the butterfly.

Peace On Earth

Today's post is a mixed media journal page created with the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. This month's prompt is silver and gold.
My masterpiece is below.
This page has so much glitz from the gold and silver embossing powder. The Christmas tree was cut from old dictionary paper then embossed in silver. I added another layer of ultra thick embossing powder.
This background was created by adding Elmer's glue with a platte knife. Let dry. Then drag the journal page with Delicate Gold Glitz, let dry. Finish up with Delicate Silvery Shimmer pigment ink. These inks can be purchased at Imagine Crafts. Many step-by- step projects on their blog for inspiration.
Next I emossed a tree stamp from Penny Black in silver. I love how this adds another layer.
To represent  Christmas decorations I added sequins in silver and gold to reflect the Christmas balls and gold twine for the garland. The title alphabets were embossed with gold embossing powder.

Nordic Noel Christmas Tags

Today I have some cute Christmas tags to share with you. These were made from my stash I had purchased after the holiday last year.
This tag was created with the silver theme in mind. The wreath was created out of silver tinsel. The tag base measures 2 1/2 × 3 1/4 inches. The decorative paper strips measure 3/4" wide. I used Stamping Up Nordic Noel DSP and cut out the flags and house. I love how the strip are cut to be beyond the base tag. Stamped and embossed the Merry Christmas tag in white embossing powder.
This tag has a gold theme with the gold wreath, glittery gingerbread and highlighted with gold Stickles.

Fat & Jolly

Who would of thought, you could use inexpensive gloves to create cute hats for snowman treats. Stamp and emboss the sentiment with black embossing powder. The message is perfect for this treat gift. It says, "It's that time of year when it's good to be Fat and Jolly.'

Cut off the fingers of the glove to make the snowman's hat. Stamp the snowman face onto plain white address labels. Wrap the label around the nugget. Embossed white cardstock with silver embossing powder and used a star punch. Attached the star with a glue gun. Make sure to attach the star to the hat and not the chocolate nugget

Changing Seasons

This photo really doesn't show the depth of this autumn journal page. But, the intense color I'm really diggin. My inspiration came from this magazine photo.
I used acrylic paint to color the leaves and a crackle stamp to give the impression of veins.
I first used a stencil and sponged Tsukineko Memento Rich Cocoa ink.
Then I drew and painted leaves on the page. To add another layer I used the Tsukineko ink and crackle stamp.
Added another background stamp to add deminsion.
To finsh the page I die cut several leaf shapes, colored them with acrylic paint and layered them on top of the background.
Finishing touches were I added a sentiment and used white acrylic paint using an old credit card.

Beauty of Dreams

A bird does not sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song. This journal page was inspired by the prompt: VINTAGE style and my inspiration came from this birdcage photo.
The mixed media background was created layering light blue, pink, white and grey acrylic paint. The layering of paint made the background give the impression of old peeled paint. I then layered old dictionary pages. I stamped the swirl background (Tsukineko/Brown ink) onto white tissue paper. Next came the lace I placed across page.  The birdcage was adorned with pearls and silver cording.

Wicked

This journal page was created for the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. This journal page was inspired by the unique and creative inspirational "Word Search" puzzle! We need to make a project based on any of the "spooky" words we found.
Based on the word search puzzle I located the following words: Bat, Witch, Black cat, Moon, Cauldron and Purple. From here I had some ideas!
Do you see the "spooky" words in my layout?
This page was created by first coming up with a cohesive concept.
I first drew my sketch on my blank journal page.  Next, I used several mixed media mediums;  acrylic paint, then used pearl essence paint through a stencil, created bubbles in the cauldron with white puffer paint and then lightly rubbed the tops of the bubbles with green metal paint. Do you see the "words" in my art?

Excited to hear!

Please let a comment so, I can stop by your blog.

Life

This journal page was created for the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. Inspiration can come from many different places, take for example this inspirational photo.
I used color and shape from the photo for this journal page. I titled this page, "Life." This has been a difficult year and felt I needed to focus on what makes me happy. In my case it would playing in my studio.  Found this quote, "Remember this moment. Cherish this story. Celebrate this life."
For the background I used the common household papers. Add some color with acrylic paint, big Pitt maker, sharpies, doodles and abracadabra you have a completed page.
Challenges I participated in: Use your stuff- Ink and markers (Monday), We Love 2 Create - Mixed Media (Sunday)

Magical Mood

This journal page was created for the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. The journal page was inspired by the challenge photo.
I was inspired by the colors in the photo and whimsical elements. So, I used acrylic paint in various  colors, Zentangled patterns to represent the whimsical elements and layered on some wonderful bright and crazy washi tape for added interest.  The title was recycled from a magazine I had received.  I hope the photo shows the richness of the bright colors.
I also submitted this creation for Simon Says Stamp, No Designer Paper - Wednesday Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a nice comment.

Love People

What is the heart of your people? For me it is LOVE. This journal page was created for the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. The journal page was inspired by the challenge photo.
Personally I find joy, laughter and blessings in everything.  I receive compliments all the time from people who says I'm always positive and upbeat with a smile on my face. I wanted this journal page to reflect color, people, love and hopefully places a smile on your face.

Dreamcatcher

This journal page incorporated a dreamcatcher theme.  The meaning "dream snare" is a handmade object based on a willow hoop, on which is woven a loose net or web. I used old dictionary text to make the net/web and on the feather spins.  I loved how this turned out.
I created this for the Mixed Media Challenge, using text on your project challenge.  I used acrylic paints for the background and feathers.  The journal page almost appears to be 3-d.

August project received an award.

Live the Life You've Imagined

This journal page was inspired by "Summer Days." On vacation, I loved watching the sea turtle hatching on the beach.
I painted the turtle and background with watercolor.  I added markers for the shading and a crackle stamp to give the turtle shell texture.  I'm not sure if this photo shows the vibrancy of the colors.

Received recognition for my turtle.

Who Am I

Hello crafty friends.  I have another mixed media journal page to share with you today.  The prompt was "Who am I".  I used a lot of wonderful elements to create this page. Several of them were; old laundry stub, a page of an ice cream order book, quote from a magazine along with other elements found in magazines.  The background was created with acrylic paint.  The cloths pin hold a photo of myself and my English Bulldog, Rosie.  To view the characteristics of what make me.me. By lifting up the photo to revile the list.

Beautiful Peacock

This mixed media page was fun to make. Let's start with the background. I mixed gesso and grey acrylic paint together and stamped the image on the page. I then used water down acrylic paint in blue and bright green and painted over the stamped image. I drew the peacock on some white card stock and then added it to the page. I used blue, green, yellow, pink and purple acrylic paints for the peacocks feathers. Finishing touches were doodling feathers, using a checkered pattern stamp and a white Sharpie marker.

I created this page for the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #13 "A Year of Choices."
I selected the theme, "Birds of a Feather." Do Peacocks have wings? Yes they do. They are excellent fliers with beautiful wings. Their beautiful tail is held straight back when they fly.

Some would say peacocks only have 1 feather, they would be wrong! A peacock can hold up to 30 small feathers or 4 HUGE ones but 20 medium or average size feathers. The way peacocks spread they're tail/feathers it can look like just a single feather.

Bingo

Today's post is a journal page I created for Create Something Catchy Mixed Media Challenge.  I had to think awhile before something hit me?  I decided to create a BINGO card and then add inspirational words to the page.  There are several 3-d items included on this page: crochet flower, star eyelet, ribbons, silver heart and another fabric flower in the lower right corner.
From the inspirational photo (below) I choose the red, brown and black colors and playfulness of the image.  I add the large red heart to reflect the love they have for each other and the color of the umbrella.
What do you think?
