A Hug FUR You

You know when you have a vision... and then your card turns out nothing like that! This is what happened with this card. Then I remembered a quote 'To make something special, you just have to believe in special.'

Using my Cricut and the Bloom cartridge I cut out the bamboo in green and the flowers in peach cardstock. I colored the Panda with Copic markers. I added a brown and raffia' ribbon to the card to add the luscious feeling. The saying on the card says, 'A hug FUR you' by TLC.

The card was created using layers of Dreams of Japan digital paper pack by Jazzy Patterns. Set of 12 digital papers in traditional colors of Japan. They make great backgrounds for scrapbook pages, greeting cards, gift tags, wrapping paper and other creative projects you come up with. The image used is Dilek Cute Panda Digi Stamps. These Dilek Cute Panda Digi Stamps designs can be used as embellishments for invites, cards, stationery, scrapbooking or for digitized embroidery.

Fancy Star Birthday

The Party's on, over at Polkadoodles. Tracie has chosen 'Party Time' for this week's challenge. My take on this week's theme is a Birthday card.

The Fancy Star Cake digital element is from the Paper Boutique Vol 1 CD along with the coordinating digital papers from Polkadoodles. To give the cake a layered look I printed the Fancy Star Cake digital element out three times. Adhere the cut layers with pop dots. I then added Liquid Applique to give the appearance of icing.

Remember, Birthdays are nature’s way of telling us to eat more cake. Would you like to win prizes from Polkadoodles? Okay, we ask you to create a project or card utilizing the 'Party' theme and post your creations here.

Challenges I participated in:Polkadoodles, Party (Fri), Paper Play - Layer it up (Thurs), Gingersnap Creations - Coffee and Cream (Wed), Do You Stack Up - Pattern Paper

Made With Love

"Put your things away when you are done with them." My mom would say this to me when I was younger! But it's true. My work table isn't as messy because I have been putting most of the stuff away when I'm done. Yes, I said "most."

Today I'd like to share a card I made for this week's MyGrafico 'Anything Goes' challenge.

Using my Cricut and the Bloom cartridge I cut out a birdcage and a leaf branch. I wanted to emphasize the birdcages on the digital paper by Revidevi as well as bring in the feeling of Valentine's day with the love birds. I used small hearts to give the impression of leaves on the tree.

This is a close up view of the bird cage and the saying on the inside of the birdcage reads, 'Made With Love' from TLC.

The digital paper set comes with 10 lovely designs with cute critters. The designs are great for any craft projects, background for invites, cards, wrapping papers, and paper goods. Purchase the February Critters Papers here.

Cupcake Liner Cards

It sort of seems like everywhere I turn these days, I'm seeing photos of creative uses for cupcake liners. They are readily available at stores such as Walmart, Hobby Lobby and Michael's.... even grocery stores.

I stumbled across this great idea this week at a site called 'It's always a party at the Parker's.' I thought this would be a great idea for some cute and fast Valentine's day cards.

Using the large and mini cupcake liners would give the layered look. Cupcake liners are something you can put into your craft supplies for future projects. Many times after the holidays these are very inexpensive to purchase.

Download a printable version.

What about stamping on the solid cupcake liners for the holidays? Don't you just love this idea?

LOVE Pennant

I have created a 'LOVE" pennant to share with you. A pennant differs from other kinds of banners essentially in its elongated triangular shape. Pennants also frequently carry a short message.

Supplies used to create this banner: gift paper, that's right gift paper, paper dollies, pom poms, glitter paper, lace, ribbon and glue. Just by layering rosettes and letters created this 3-d project. When I get time, I'm going to decorating the back of the pennant with the word 'Fall' this way I can use the pennant for two holidays.

Are you ready to create a pennant banner for your next celebration? A tutorial on how to create a pennant can be found at SCS by clicking here. Download a PDF on how to create these rosettes here.

Naturally Sweet

Here is a card you could give a friend for any occasion. The message is clear and simple, 'Naturally Sweet.'

This card has a trio of layers that are raised. I colored the beehive limb image with Copic Markers and then added diecut leaves, ribbon, prima flowers and of course tiny cute buttons. . . . it looks so neat! I hope this photo does the card justice.

Do you see the clouds in the card? The blue clouds tie in nicely with the blue ribbon. You can purchase the Beehive Limb digital image in the Stretch N' Bubbles store
here for $2.50. Thanks so much for dropping by and getting your creative juices flowing with Scrappy Girl.

Wee Henry Hockey

Hambo Stamps is looking for designers for their next four-month term: February 1-May 31, 2011. So, I submitted an application and then they asked me to create something utilizing this image.

I created a hanging treat box with their image called Wee Henry Hockey. This is a whimsical design that would look amazing on cards, stationary, or any project. Use on scrapbooking pages, paper, or elements.

I colored Wee Henry with Copic Markers. Create one of these and slip over a bottle neck (as shown) or use as a door hanger. Tutorial on how to create this project is located here.

Of Corsets Your Birthday

I think it's always so fun to try new stamps. Being on the MyGrafico Design Team have allowed me just that. Today's project for week #80 MyGrafico Challenge 'Anything Goes' challenge is a Birthday card.

I choose an image from the 'Corset Stamps' by Blackleaf Studios. I printed the image two times. Once on white cardstock and then again onto printed paper. This technique is called paper piecing with digital stamps.

I then colored the 'bra' with Copic Markers. I loved how the yellow just made the image pop. Did you notice how the pattern paper gives the appearance of faux stitches? I added a touch of bling by applying glitter on the hanger.

Corset Stamps are a fun and swanky way to adorn your bridal shower invitations, girls night cards, stationery, scrapbooks, digitized embroidery or even wall decals. Visit the MyGrafico site to see other projects created by the design team using this set.

So Tweet

Over at Polkadoodles we needed to create a project using the sketch below and the colors; red, white and blue. For my take on the sketch this week I used a mess of new and old goodies.

The new goodies used were the pattern striped background paper and the black and white digital birdie. These digital elements are available on the All Around & Everywhere in the 'Bright & Beautiful' collection CD from Polkadoodles.

For the old elements I cut out a tree shape and then applied different shades of brown cardstock to create the tree bark. I then, embossed the tree with the swirl embossing folder. Did you notice the clouds behind the blue bird? The clouds were created with torn strips of paper and blue ink.

Would you like to win some great prizes this week? Get the ideas and inspiration going and enter this weeks Polkadoodles challenge. Go shopping over at Polkadoodles on-line store here.
